On 5 August 2026, the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) co-hosted the 6th Annual ICWA–VASS Dialogue in New Delhi under the theme “Strategic Convergences and Future Pathways in India–Viet Nam Relations.”
The Vietnamese delegation was headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Minh Tuan, Vice President of the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, and included Mr. Tran Thanh Tung, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in India. The Indian side was represented by Ambassador N. J. Gangte, Acting Deputy Director General of ICWA, Ambassador Preeti Saran, former Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, together with numerous scholars and experts from both countries.
The Dialogue reviewed the achievements of the Viet Nam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over the past ten years, while examining new opportunities and challenges amid the rapidly evolving regional and international environment. Participants focused their discussions on the strategic convergence between the two countries with regard to issues in the Indo-Pacific. They also proposed measures to strengthen cooperation in education, culture, tourism, healthcare, and people-to-people exchanges. On that basis, participants recommended translating the high level of mutual understanding and political trust into concrete and practical cooperation programmes, thereby further deepening the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and India in the years ahead.
