General Secretary, President To Lam Receives Leaders of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC)

As part of the State Visit to the Republic of India, on the afternoon of May 6 in New Delhi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam To Lam received leaders of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC).

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary, President To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting Mrs. Kusum Jain, President of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC), and other delegates. He said he was deeply touched that the delegation had traveled a long distance to New Delhi for the warm and friendly meeting, bringing symbolic gifts that reflected the affection of the Indian people.

General Secretary, President To Lam thanked the friends from the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC) for creating a lively and heartfelt atmosphere at the meeting. He noted that the dedicated members of IVSC are among those who have laid the bricks building the house of solidarity between Viet Nam and India.

The two countries share a traditional friendship and deep bonds, a valuable asset founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and continuously nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples of both countries. Viet Nam always remembers and appreciates the valuable support and assistance of the Indian people during its struggle for national independence in the past as well as in the country’s development and nation-building efforts today.

On behalf of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC) and the people of Kolkata, Mrs. Kusum Jain welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation on their visit to India, affirming that it was a rare opportunity to meet the current generation of Vietnamese leaders carrying forward the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh, who always valued people-to-people diplomacy.

The President of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC) expressed admiration for Viet Nam’s achievements after 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal) reforms as well as the country’s current strategic development policies, and voiced confidence in Viet Nam’s breakthrough development in the coming years. Mrs. Kusum Jain also expressed admiration for the determination of the Communist Party of Viet Nam in combating corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices, noting that these efforts have contributed to building a clean administration serving the people.

Members of the delegation from the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC) shared their affection for the country and people of Viet Nam, expressed deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh as the great leader of the Vietnamese nation, and affirmed their support for the strategic policies currently being implemented by Viet Nam.

Delegates proposed the establishment of a Vietnamese Consulate General in Kolkata; stronger cultural exchanges and people-to-people dialogue between the two countries; cooperation in publishing books on President Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam and its people, and Viet Nam’s Doi Moi achievements over the past 40 years and in the years ahead; the opening of Vietnamese language classes in Kolkata with Vietnamese teachers; and the translation of literary works from Vietnamese into Hindi and from Hindi into Vietnamese. President Kusum Jain also invited General Secretary, President To Lam to visit Kolkata in the near future.

Expressing appreciation for the warm sentiments of Indian friends, General Secretary, President To Lam acknowledged and highly appreciated the important role of people-to-people diplomacy and the positive contributions of Indian people’s organizations, including the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC). He encouraged IVSC to continue promoting and expanding people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially in the fields of culture, education, Buddhism, innovation, and local cooperation.

General Secretary, President To Lam reaffirmed that Viet Nam consistently attaches importance to its traditional friendship with India. Relations between the two countries have continued to develop strongly in recent years, especially since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 10 years ago. People-to-people relations have also continued to expand, contributing positively to enhancing mutual understanding and trust. During this visit to India, leaders of both sides discussed measures to elevate bilateral relations and create breakthroughs in cooperation commensurate with the potential and expectations of the peoples of the two countries.

General Secretary, President To Lam welcomed the proposals and recommendations of the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC), especially the early implementation of Vietnamese and Hindi language teaching among the peoples of the two countries. He expressed confidence that IVSC, together with the India – Viet Nam Solidarity Committee (IVSC), would continue to play a core role in spreading positive inspiration and promoting friendship, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges between Viet Nam and India.
