Vietnamese Culture Shines at the ASEAN Bazaar 2025 in New Delhi

At the ASEAN Bazaar 2025 hosted on 11 October 2025 by the High Commission of Malaysia in its capacity as Rotating Chair of the ASEAN Committee in New Delhi (ANDC), the Embassy of Viet Nam in India mounted a culinary booth and presented cultural performances that drew large numbers of Indian and international visitors.

This year, the Embassy showcased two signature Vietnamese dishes—pho and spring rolls (nem)—which received widespread praise from ASEAN friends and foreign guests alike. Vietnamese coffee, rich in aroma, became a lively stop for attendees; many queued to sample it and returned for more. ASEAN Ambassadors and Heads of Mission expressed their appreciation for the balanced, refined flavors of Vietnamese cuisine, while many delegates remarked that the Vietnamese booth offered a well-rounded feast for both palate and eyes, creating a complete cultural journey.

Alongside the food experience, the Vietnamese booth featured a souvenir corner with handicrafts, inviting visitors to “touch” the textures of culture and thereby gain deeper insight into Viet Nam’s identity and way of life.

Beyond culinary delights, Viet Nam contributed two cultural performances that left a strong impression: an ao dai (traditional long dress) showcase set to the song “Hello Vietnam”, and a violin solo of the folk tune “Beo Dat May Troi” (“Drifting Water Ferns, Floating Clouds”). The ao dai presentation honored a grace that is modern yet faithful to tradition—an elegant greeting from Vietnamese women to friends around the world. Rendered on violin, “Beo Dat May Troi” carried the lyrical spirit of Northern Viet Nam, conveying the simplicity, fidelity, and human warmth of Vietnamese culture. Both performances were met with prolonged applause and warm commendations from the audience.

The ASEAN Bazaar 2025 was a highlight in the ANDC calendar under Malaysia’s chairmanship, bringing together the 10 ASEAN embassies and the Embassy of Timor-Leste. With its distinctive and well-prepared participation, the Embassy of Viet Nam helped spotlight an image of a welcoming, creative, and tradition-rich Viet Nam in India, while further strengthening cultural, tourism, and people-to-people ties between Viet Nam, ASEAN partners, and friends in the host country.
