Vietnam – India Inaugurate Peacekeeping Exercise VINBAX 2024

On November 4, 2024, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the annual bilateral peacekeeping exercise between Vietnam and India under the United Nations for 2024 (VINBAX 2024), held at the headquarters of the 474th Engineer Brigade in Chandi Mandir, Haryana, India. Representing India, Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, Commander of the Kharga Corps, attended and co-chaired this 5th opening ceremony of VINBAX.

In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai affirmed that both Vietnam and India are peace-loving nations actively contributing to the promotion of peace and stability in the region and worldwide. He noted that the contributions of the Vietnamese military to the UN peacekeeping missions have been acknowledged and highly appreciated by the international community, thereby enhancing Vietnam’s standing and reputation on the global stage.

The Ambassador emphasized that defense cooperation is a key pillar in the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as repeatedly affirmed by senior leaders of both nations. He highlighted that both sides are working diligently to implement the Joint Vision Statement on the Vietnam-India Defense Partnership to 2030. VINBAX, he said, is not only a symbol of military cooperation but also an opportunity for soldiers from both countries to engage, fostering mutual understanding of cultural, social, and traditional heritage values. This will further strengthen the friendly relationship between the armed forces, the two countries, and their people.
