Gujarat – Viet Nam Tourism Conclave

On October 10, 2024, the Vietnamese Embassy in India organized a Vietnam tourism promotion program in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat state, India. Attending the program were Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Gujarat State, Mr. Rajender Kumar, nearly 80 local travel businesses and a number of Vietnamese travel and tourism service businesses. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai highly appreciated the interest and participation of Indian and Vietnamese travel businesses; Emphasizing that promoting tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries is one of the important priorities in the Embassy’s economic diplomacy work; said the two countries have great potential in promoting tourism as they both have famous landscapes with many historical and cultural values; expressed his joy at the fact that Vietnam is becoming one of the favorite destinations for Indian tourists with diverse types of tourism, from resorts, weddings, conferences, cruises, etc.

The Ambassador believes that with Vietnam’s favorable electronic visa system and the number of direct flights between the two countries today, tourism and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and India will continue to grow strongly. and the number of Indian visitors to Vietnam will soon reach 1 million visitors in the near future. To achieve the above goal, the Ambassador hopes that tourism companies in the state of Gujarat and Vietnam will increase cooperation, exchange, and together create unique and affordable tourism products in each country. Especially in the context that Vietnam’s Vietjet Air will open more direct flights between Ahmedabad and Da Nang from the end of October 2024.

Deputy Minister of Tourism of Gujarat state, Mr. Rajender Kumar highly appreciated the dynamic development and tourism potential of Vietnam; We believe that this tourism event will make an important contribution to promoting tourism between the states of Gujarat and Vietnam, thereby contributing to promoting economic, trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries. The Deputy Minister said that with Vietjet Air opening a direct flight connecting Ahmedabad with Da Nang, the number of people and businesses from the state of Gujarat visiting Vietnam will grow strongly, exceeding the number of 100,000 visitors from Gujarat. In 2023, the number of Indian tourists to Vietnam has grown strongly with nearly 400,000 thousand visitors, ranking in the top 10 of Vietnam’s foreign tourist markets. In the first 7 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed 272,000 Indian tourists, an increase of 30% over the same period last year.
