CONGRATULATIONS TO THREE OUTSTANDING VIETNAMESE STUDENTS ON WINNING GOLD MEDALS (TOP OF THEIR CLASS) AT NALANDA UNIVERSITY – HONOURED TO RECEIVE AWARDS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA

On 31 March 2026, Nalanda University (Rajgir, Bihar, India) solemnly held its Second Convocation Ceremony, marking an important milestone in the academic journey of more than 600 doctoral and master’s graduates from 31 countries around the world.

The ceremony was further elevated by the distinguished presence of the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu; the Governor of Bihar, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain; the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar; the Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs of India, Shri P. Kumaran; along with scholars, representatives of embassies and diplomatic missions from various countries, and family members and friends who attended to celebrate and extend their congratulations.

In particular, congratulations are extended to three Vietnamese students from the cohorts 2018–2020, 2021–2023, and 2023–2025, who achieved outstanding academic excellence and were awarded Gold Medals (First Rank), with the honour of receiving their awards directly from President Droupadi Murmu:

  1. Nguyen Huynh Xuan Trinh (Venerable Lac Dieu Nga) – First Rank, Master’s Programme in Buddhist Studies, Comparative Philosophy of Religion (Cohort 2018–2020).
  2. Pham Thi Thu Thao (Venerable Thien Duc) – First Rank, Master’s Programme in Buddhist Studies, Comparative Philosophy of Religion (Cohort 2021–2023).
  3. Ngo Vo Dinh Huan (Venerable Thich Tinh Nghiem) – First Rank, Master’s Programme in Buddhist Studies, Comparative Philosophy of Religion (Cohort 2023–2025).

These achievements are a well-deserved recognition of their dedication and perseverance in academic study and research, and a source of pride for the Vietnamese monastic and student community at Nalanda University and across India.
