Within the framework of his official visit to the state of Andhra Pradesh, on the afternoon of September 19, 2024, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai had a meeting with members of the Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including many agricultural businesses ( chili, pepper) that have been active/interested in doing business with Vietnam. At the meeting, the Ambassador shared Vietnam’s economic situation and the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Andhra Pradesh in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism. Andhra Pradesh businesses asked the Embassy for support in connecting with Vietnamese businesses in the fields of seafood, logistics, and seaports, and at the same time, hoped Vietnamese airlines would open direct flights. Andhra Pradesh is the seventh largest state located in the Southeast of India, has the country’s second longest coastline (974km) with a population of nearly 50 million people. Andhra Pradesh has a very high GDP percentage of 17% in the fiscal year 2023 – 2024, of which services account for 41%, followed by agriculture (40%) and industry (19%). Andhra Pradesh is a dynamic state, with the most developed road, sea and air infrastructure in India. The state’s key areas and strengths include: agricultural and aquatic products, food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, seaports, and information technology. The state contributes 30% of India’s fish production and accounts for 35% of India’s total seafood exports.
Andhra Pradesh is also a strong state in tourism with 93.2 million domestic tourists, accounting for 13.8% of the total number of domestic tourists in India. A major portion of tourists visit temples in Tirupati, Vijayawada and Srisailam. To facilitate tourism connections between Vietnam and the state of Andhra Pradesh, provide information to tourism businesses of the two countries about tourism promotion opportunities and air connections and people-to-people exchanges, September 20 /2024, the Vietnamese Embassy in India organized the Andhra Pradesh – Vietnam 2024 tourism conference to expand the tourism connection network between the two countries.
