On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Embassy in India, Ambassador Nguyễn Thanh Hải met with a group of Vietnamese enterprises from the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA) and the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association (VEIA) who were attending the IndiaSoft exhibition in New Delhi, India, from March 19-21, 2025.
Ambassador Nguyễn Thanh Hải welcomed the strong interest and active participation of Vietnamese businesses, emphasizing that promoting trade and scientific-technical cooperation is a key priority for both Vietnam and the Embassy, in line with Resolution 57/NQ-TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in scientific and technological development, innovation, and national digital transformation. The Ambassador noted that as India is rapidly advancing, particularly in emerging technologies, and as Vietnam strives to become a high-income developed country by 2045, strengthening science and technology cooperation is crucial to bringing effective and practical benefits to both nations.
The Ambassador affirmed that India is a large and promising market, offering great potential in trade, tourism, and science and technology. India currently has 166 billionaires (with 24 new billionaires in 2024) and 118 unicorn startups, ranking third in the world. While Vietnamese businesses have many opportunities, they must also thoroughly understand the business culture, legal framework, and policy environment when operating in this market.
The Ambassador also shared that travel between the two countries is now very convenient, with 72 direct flights per week between major cities. In 2024, Vietnam welcomed over 500,000 Indian tourists, a 27.9% increase from the previous year, making India one of the top six sources of visitors to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese associations and businesses expressed their desire for the Embassy’s support in connecting with and finding partners in the Indian market, learning about the business culture and environment in India, and understanding the procedures for establishing companies in India to facilitate business operations. The Ambassador reaffirmed that the Embassy remains a strong companion to Vietnamese enterprises, ready to support, connect, and provide essential information to help them succeed in doing business and collaborating with Indian partners.
