The visit is an important external relations event of special significance. It marks General Secretary and President To Lam’s first visit to India in his new capacity and takes place as the two countries commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Viet Nam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2016–2026).
The visit vividly demonstrates the foreign policy of the Party and State of Viet Nam in the new era, as outlined in the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress: independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, and proactive, responsible contributions to the international community.
