A Warm Community Tet Celebration: “Xuân Quê Hương” Bính Ngọ in India

On the evening of 6 February, at the headquarters of the Embassy of Vietnam in India in New Delhi, the “Xuân Quê Hương” (Spring from the Homeland) Bính Ngọ 2026 celebration in India took place in a joyful and warm atmosphere.

The event was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in India, monks and nuns in religious training, as well as officers and staff of the Embassy.

Speaking at the Xuân Quê Hương Bính Ngọ 2026 celebration, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, reviewed the key milestones and achievements of Vietnam in 2025—a year in which the country continued to affirm its resilience, adaptability, and standing amid profound, complex, and unpredictable global changes.

Accordingly, Vietnam’s economy recorded strong growth, with GDP increasing by over 8 percent to reach USD 514 billion. Trade turnover rose by more than 18 percent to USD 920 billion, demonstrating the strong internal momentum and adaptability of the Vietnamese economy. At the same time, social policies continued to receive significant attention. Vietnam’s ranking in the Global Happiness Index has risen sharply, currently standing at 46th out of 143 countries.

The Government has also waived all tuition fees for students at public educational institutions, from preschool through upper secondary level. Notably, Vietnam has just successfully held the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, reaffirming its determination to usher the country into a new era—an era of national aspiration and advancement. The past year also witnessed many dynamic and substantive activities within the Vietnam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

On that foundation, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai affirmed that Bính Ngọ 2026 will be a year of special significance, marking the first year of implementing the resolutions of the 14th Party Congress. Vietnam is entering a new phase of development with a vision toward 2045, aiming to become a high-income developed country. The year 2026 will also see numerous activities by Vietnam and India to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized that the Party and the State consistently regard the Vietnamese community in India as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, a valuable national resource, and an important bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Extending New Year greetings to the community, the Ambassador expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in India would continue to grow, prosper, and achieve success in India; remain united and supportive of one another; comply with local laws; preserve national cultural identity; and continue to serve as an effective and steadfast bridge fostering friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and India. He also encouraged monks and nuns, engineers, and Vietnamese students in India to continue building on their strengths, strive in study, research, and creative work, and contribute to the development of the country to the best of their abilities and circumstances.

Representing the community at the Xuân Quê Hương Bính Ngọ 2026 event, Ms. Nguyen Huynh Khanh Linh, President of the Vietnamese Association in India, affirmed that in the New Year Bính Ngọ 2026, the Vietnamese community in India will continue to uphold unity, comply with local laws, and, above all, maintain its role as “people-to-people ambassadors,” contributing to the further strengthening of Vietnam–India friendship.

Within the framework of the Xuân Quê Hương Bính Ngọ 2026 program, members of the Vietnamese community, Indian friends, and invited guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes and cultural performances rich in national identity.
