On 25 September 2025, Viet Nam’s Ambassador to India, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, attended the 4th World Food India (WFI) 2025 and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Viet Nam pavilion, which included booths of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, the Viet Nam Trade Office in India, and Vietnamese enterprises at the Pragati Maidan exhibition center in New Delhi.

The objective of this year’s WFI is to present India as a global food hub for food processing and supply. WFI plays an important role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India 2047) to make India a developed, inclusive, and globally competitive nation.

As a major international event and a platform connecting businesses with government (B2G) and businesses with businesses (B2B), the event is chaired by India’s Ministry of Food Processing Industries, with the participation of more than 90 countries and over 2,000 booths. At this year’s WFI, Viet Nam is among four countries—Japan, the UAE, and Russia—participating as Focus Countries; New Zealand and Saudi Arabia participate as Partner Countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the opening session, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Indian ministers.

The Viet Nam pavilion features processed foods, spices, cinnamon, star anise, rice, fruits, coffee, and other products, attracting great interest from visitors to the event. With the world’s largest population of 1.4 billion people, India is a potential market with ample room for Vietnamese businesses to explore and develop. In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed the hope that businesses would make good use of the opportunities at this fair to bring more Vietnamese agricultural products into India; he believed that the Vietnamese and Indian business communities would make an important contribution to soon realizing the target of US$20 billion in bilateral trade, as committed by the leaders of the two countries.
