Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai visits I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC)

On January 15, 2025, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai, met with Mr. Ashutosh Dutt Sharma, the CEO of the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.

During the meeting, the Ambassador reviewed the achievements in scientific and technological cooperation between Viet Nam and India over the years. He noted that as India is rising strongly, especially in emerging technologies, and Viet Nam aims to become a high-income developing country by 2045, scientific and technological cooperation should be further enhanced to bring effective and practical benefits to the development of both countries. He emphasized that science and technology are areas of great interest to Viet Nam, which aims to promote these fields in its relations with India moving forward.

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed Viet Nam’s desire to continue implementing numerous activities for delegation exchanges, experience sharing, training, and enhancing cooperation in technology, startups, and R&D with IHFC in the future. He encouraged IHFC to visit and seek cooperation opportunities with the National Innovation Center and the National Startup Support Center in Viet Nam, as well as other technology centers. The Ambassador also expressed interest in having IHFC accept Vietnamese students for training and participation in skill development programs. He requested IHFC to share information regarding lists of startup initiatives and training and educational programs organized and implemented by IHFC.

CEO Ashutosh Dutt Sharma shared that IHFC was established by the Indian government and receives annual funding but operates independently with significant autonomy. IHFC aims to create a robust ecosystem for research, innovation, and commercialization in the field of collaborative robotics (cobotics), focusing on four main areas: Healthcare, Agriculture, Defense, and Industry. Currently, IHFC has eight startup initiatives related to drones, 5-6 startup initiatives in healthcare, and several other initiatives in the remaining fields. IHFC is collaborating with Japan and the United States and has sent startup delegations to Japan for exchange and learning. Mr. Sharma expressed a desire to cooperate with Viet Nam based on the Ambassador’s proposals and looks forward to welcoming Vietnamese startups in the near future.
