Amb. Pham Sanh Chau Addressed Conference on ASEAN – India Cultural and Civilization Connection

During the webinar on 7 October 2021, Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau emphasized the cultural and civilizational connection as a strong foundation for modern day’s relations between India and ASEAN.

On October 7, 2021, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau attended and spoke online at the opening session of the 3rd international conference on “Connecting ASEAN – India’s culture and civilizations. ” organized by the Institute of India and Southwest Asian Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) in association with the India-ASEAN Research Center (Institute of Information and Research for Developing Countries- RIS, India) . The seminar was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, India’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma, and many scholars from research centers and institutes of India and ASEAN countries.

Speaking at the opening session, Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau said that the interference and cultural infiltration between India and ASEAN countries from two thousand years ago up to now have all been through peaceful forms, such as evangelism, trade, etc. emigrated and can see the cultural imprints of India reflected in the architecture of monuments, temples, religions, festivals and in the daily life of the inhabitants of ASEAN countries.

Those cultural and civilized connections create the basis for ASEAN and India to develop today’s strategic relationship. India and ASEAN share the same views and views on the concept of peace, development, and common rule-based prosperity in the region, people-oriented, and people-centered.

Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau also emphasized that the outstanding activities on cultural exchange, art, tourism and education of the Vietnamese Embassy in India have contributed significantly to the efforts to connect culture and people. between India and Vietnam in particular, India and ASEAN in general.
