On February 4, 2024, the Embassy of Viet Nam in India organized the Community Tet Program – Homeland Spring of the Dragon Year 2024 at the Embassy’s headquarters. The program was attended by Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs of India Ravi Shankar, the Ambassador of Laos H.E. Bounmy Vanmany and spouse along with officials of the Lao Embassy, the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in India, close Indian friends, as well as all the staff and families of the Embassy of Viet Nam in New Delhi.
The event was lively, warm, filled with the atmosphere of Viet Nam’s Lunar New Year with Tet decorations, peach blossoms, yellow apricot blossoms, lanterns, and a Tet feast full of flavors with traditional dishes such as banh chung (sticky rice cake), gio cha (Vietnamese sausage), nem ran (fried spring rolls), and banh dau xanh (mung bean cake). The Embassy’s officials, staff and the community contributed many special performances imbued with the cultural and spiritual identity of Viet Nam. The cultural program and fun quiz was enthusiastically participated by the community and guests, creating a happy and exciting atmosphere.
Speaking at the Community Tet event, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai highlighted the outstanding achievements of Viet Nam as well as the progress in the bilateral relations between Viet Nam and India. He affirmed that the Vietnamese community in India is an integral part of the national community and cannot be separated. The Ambassador wished for the community’s continuing development, unity, solidarity, security, prosperity, always looking towards the homeland, contributing to the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and India. Ms. Nguyen Huynh Khanh Linh, representative of the Vietnamese community in India, thanked the Embassy for the attention and timely support for the community and expressed the hope that the Embassy would have more activities to facilitate connection within the Vietnamese community in the future.
The Homeland Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024 event is not only an occasion for the community to meet, mingle, enjoy Vietnamese cuisine, and experience cultural performances rich in Vietnamese identity but also an opportunity for the overseas Vietnamese to come together and share their special love for the homeland./.
